Our Goals

In her debut novel, Kitchen, Banana Yoshimoto writes: “The place I like best in this world is the kitchen. No matter where it is, no matter what kind, if it’s a kitchen, if it’s a place where they make food, it’s fine with me. Ideally, it should be well broken in. Lots of tea towels, dry and immaculate.” The passage captures how we all feel about our kitchens—they serve an essential purpose, but are comfortable, well-worn, and the hub of each home.

Though we spend much of our time in the kitchen, maintenance is never high on the list of priorities. Instead, our lists include, “wash the countertops,” “clean the dishes,” and “go grocery shopping.” However, maintaining your kitchen’s functionality and aesthetic are equally important. The room should be well-maintained and updated every so often to reflect changes in your lifestyle and in trends. In fact, kitchen function and purpose has changed dramatically in recent decades, but few renovations have been made to keep up with behavioral and societal changes.

Put simply, this is a website for kitchen resources—from how to fund your remodeling project to the latest design trends and energy-saving appliances. In providing up-to-date analyses on recent trends and product releases, we hope to hone your aesthetic and kitchen wish list. In providing salient advice on financing renovations, we hope you can build your dream kitchen. In the immortal words of Joy Harjo, “The world begins at the kitchen table. No matter what, we must / eat to live.”
